Book 1: Miguel's Enemy Where in the Hell is God?

In Book 1: Miguel's Enemy, Where in the Hell is God? a twenty-year old, ambitious, Afro-Mexican, HBCU college student recounts his journey from South Central L.A. to Atlanta, Georgia. He remembers his high school days when teachers weren't attentive, and most times forgot about his presence. But Miguel's mind is not like any other student he knows; it's constantly moving and remembering everything it sees and hears. On healthy days with big doses of self confidence, he can sell sand to the beach, considerably a part of his ole skoo charm. Home life challenges him unexpectedly, and he is forced to make difficult decisions to grow up quickly. Miguel must manage an overwhelming array of academic, social and spiritual challenges. His ego travels an unpredictable rollercoaster ride and eventually turns to trust in a faith that is both unfamiliar and controversial. Though terrified of failing, Miguel ultimately pursues his childhood dream, thanks to the community reminding him that he is more than capable of re-writing his life story.

Why I Wrote The Book

I wrote this book because I, too, have struggled with faith. I was raised in a religious structure that often felt more about exclusion than love. I saw injustice ignored, questions silenced, and people marginalized. For years, I remained quiet – afraid to challenge what I had been taught.
But silence is complicity. I couldn’t sit by while people suffered, while faith was twisted into fear, while truth was buried beneath tradition. This book is my way of breaking that silence. This book is for those cast aside by religion, those searching for God in their pain, and those who refuse to accept a faith that shuts people out.

God is unending, always beginning something extraordinary. This story is an invitation to rediscover faith, not through fear, but through love.~ Author Barak Bomani
